What is Emory OPEN?

Emory OPEN (Opportunity, Partnership, and Engagement Network) is a platform that is powered by GivePulse. The assessment tools will find volunteer opportunities and track civic and community engagement (volunteer hours, objective goals, insights, comparison charts, heatmaps) within the Emory network.

With Emory OPEN, you can:

  • List and create events
  • Collect data in the community
  • Engage in community teaching and research
  • Upload internship opportunities
  • Find and sign-up for service opportunities
  • Build relationships with community partners

Emory OPEN is a tool we can all use to ensure opportunities for service and partnership are transparent and fluid. With Emory OPEN, we can better respond and track our needs and how the community is working with us.


Benefits of using Emory OPEN

Emory OPEN supports faculty, students, staff, and community members in realizing Emory's mission to create, preserve, teach, and apply knowledge in the service of humanity. Emory OPEN complements best practices of community engagement already underway.

  • Emory OPEN facilitates collaboration between community partners and Emory faculty, students, and staff
  • Emory OPEN coordinates and customizes the work of community-engaged courses, groups, or community-campus partnerships
  • Emory OPEN quickly announces and/or locate community service projects and community events
  • Emory OPEN facilitates registration or placement assignment to projects/events you are hosting
  • Emory OPEN tracks and validates community-based research/work/service responsibilities and Emory's contribution to the community
  • Emory OPEN pulls reports and analyzes the collective impact of your work by topic area, geographic location, or other indicators of interest

Getting Started on Emory OPEN


  1. Go to emory.givepulse.com or click the Self Log-in button; this will take you directly to the Emory OPEN page.

  2. Once you are on the homepage, in the top right corner, select "Log-in". Go to the single sign-on and search for Emory OPEN. In the pop-up menu, select "Log-in with Emory NetID".

  3. Once you have logged in, select "Account" in the drop-down menu under your name. From here, you can enter your information, including the causes you care about and the skills you have, and include a profile picture.

  4. Filling out your profile information is important because this helps groups find you for events and connect with you.
